Larry Staples is retired after a professional career which encompassed over 40 years of leadership for engineering consulting and research organizations. He served for many years as Chair of the respective Boards of the Pressure Pipe Inspection Company and of WaterSMART Solutions. He was CEO of C-FER Technologies, an entrepreneurial R&D organization which he helped to found in 1984, and was cross-appointed as Vice President, Engineered Products and Services of the Alberta Research Council (now called Alberta Innovates). Larry is also known for his volunteer leadership, spanning five decades in the engineering profession. He was honoured to serve as the 86th President of APEGGA in 2005 and was elected as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering in 2009. He has served on the Boards of Engineers Canada, the Canadian Academy of Engineering, the Citadel Theatre, and as a public member on the registration committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta and the Council of the Alberta Institute of Agrologists. Larry lives in Edmonton, observing with delight the adventures of his adult children and grandchildren.
