Ian Rowe, now retired, has demonstrated outstanding leadership, innovation and research management in academe, government and industry - particularly in support of the Canadian resource, environment and space industries. He helped to found and later led the Centre for Research in Earth and Space Technology (CRESTech), an Ontario Centre of Excellence. His effective contributions to education and training of young engineers were recognized - D.Eng. (Hon) - Ryerson University, 2002, for, 'excellence in science and engineering, service, discovery and application, leadership, innovation, vision, teams and partnerships, matters terrestrial and extraterrestrial, the environment, and an underlying devotion to education and training of young people'.
He continues to financially support and mentor innovation in Engineering Science, Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering, University of Toronto. As well, through theDr. Ian and Shirley Rowe Research Fund under the auspices of the St Joseph's Healthcare,Hamilton Foundation - exploring innovative ways of managing psychosis in thecommunity. 2020/09/24
